SEEDS OF ART

Conceptualized and Co-Curated by İpek Çankaya

Seeds of Art is a multi-year outdoor art event named and conceptualized by İpek Çankaya in 2023. The project that takes inspiration from nature has as venue a farm located in Bodrum Çamarası. The project considers the artworks to be placed on the farm land as seeds of art planted in nature. The aim of the project is to ensure that the artworks made to be exhibited in the pine forest meet with the audience in the long-term, to open space for contemporary authentic works and installations outside of the monumental sculpture making perspective, and to develop nature-friendly artistic practices. The Seeds of Art event series takes place once a year. Even though the event celebration is for a single day, the works remain on the land as long as the natural conditions and business owners allow. Artwork production processes begin weeks in advance and are completed by working both in artist studios and in the field. Seeds of Art invites visual artists to work under a new title to be determined each year. The curatorial perspective of the project accepts art as a natural part of life and production. Accordingly, productions using materials and techniques compatible with nature are supported.

TAŞ KÂĞIT DÜŞ

Tam olarak aynı şey değil aslında

Boşluğun ortasında taş olmak onun yerine

Duru akan bir nehirde

Kâğıttan bir kayıkla gezinmekle

Taş gibi durunca en çok kavrıyor insan

Varı yoğu duran zaman akan suyu

Süzülmeyi akmayı içinden şakımayı

Gündüz düşlerine dalmayı

Rüyalar budalaları kanatlandırır demişti biri

Kimdi sahi | Biz mi | Düş mü

İncecik kıyıları varmış düşününce

Su alınca saydamlaşan

Islandıkça batmayan

Kâğıt fenerinden yolculukların

Bellek hep geriye kürek çeker o yüzden

Hayalin uzaklaşır yakamoz yaklaşırken

Durdukça durur insan

Şimdi de şimdide

Taş olur toprak olur

Kitaptaki yaprak olur

Parçalanır el yordamıyla koyduğu yerde

Bir gün toplar çıkarım dediği çekmecelerde

Bana da fotoğrafını yolla mutlaka

Taş kâğıt ya da düşün

Ama bugün kaldır bir taşı fırlat denize

En fazla altında kalırsın dalamazsan dibine

ROCK PAPER DREAM

It’s not exactly the same Being a rock on its behalf

With strolling On a paper boat in a pure running river

While standing like a rock one grasps the most

What one has or has lost

Time that stops water that runs

How to glide and float

To sing from inside and to fall into the daydreams

Dreams wing the fools someone once said

Who was it really | us | or the dream

They had the gentlest shores when you come to remember it

The journeys of paper lanterns

Which don’t sink when filled with water

Become transparent instead

That’s why the memory always rows backwards

Sparkling sea gets nearby while your dream fades away

Standing still like a rock one stands still in time

Becomes a piece of earth

A dry leaf in someone’s book

Until eventually scrambles into pieces

In long-waiting drawers roughly placed

For the days of absent farewells

And you my friend

Send me a picture of the rock the paper or the dream

But today grab one in your hand and

Throw it to the sea Fearless and confident

What’s the worst that can happen?

You Fall under ıt If you cannot dive deeper

In the country of Who/Would/Ever/Want/To/Hurt/You/
It is you and I and not too many
Would become the voices of this story

İpek’s texts ın relatıon to Art Halicarnassus

“How would the pieces come together?
Only by writıng about the journey.
Today be it a fresh start or a new phase
wıth a back and forth ın the memory and soul
while everything is stıll in a magıcal order…
